“Why Is My Wi-Fi So Slow?” (And What You Can Do)
Tech Tips, Tricks & Cybersecurity Advice – No Jargon, Just Help
Hey there!
Welcome back to your weekly dose of no-nonsense tech advice. In this issue, we’re diving into one of the most common complaints I hear:
🚨 “Why Is My Wi-Fi So Slow?”
3 Quick Fixes to Try Before You Pull Your Hair Out
Slow internet? Before you call your provider in frustration, try these first:
1. Reboot the Router
Yes, the classic “turn it off and back on again” still works.
🔌 Unplug your router for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
2. Move It or Lose It
Your router’s location matters.
📍 Put it in a central spot—off the floor, away from thick walls or microwaves.
3. Too Many Devices?
Your Wi-Fi has limits.
📱 Smart TVs, phones, tablets, doorbells… they all compete for bandwidth.
Try disconnecting unused devices or upgrading your plan if your household’s tech-heavy.
💡 Bonus Tip: If your router is more than 3–4 years old, it might be time for an upgrade. Need suggestions send me a quick email and we can find the perfect one for you!
🛡️ Cyber Tip: Don’t Reuse Security Codes
Ever get a text like:
“Your security code is 238941. Do not share it with anyone.”
🚫 Don’t reuse or save these codes in your notes app. They’re meant to be one-time use.
✅ Instead:
Use them once, then delete the text.
Never share codes with anyone—not even someone claiming to be “tech support.”
🔒 Tech Trick of the Week: Use “Find My Device” Before You Need It
Losing your phone or laptop is stressful—but it doesn’t have to be a total disaster.
✅ Set up device tracking now, so if it ever goes missing, you’re ready:
On iPhone/iPad:
Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Find My > Find My iPhone → Make sure it’s ON
Turn on “Send Last Location” too (helps if the battery dies)
On Android:
Open Settings > Security > Find My Device
Make sure it’s ON
Then visit android.com/find to test it
On Windows PC:
Settings > Privacy & security > Find my device
Turn it ON
On Mac:
System Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Find My Mac
💡 Bonus Tip: Practice locating your device once so you’re not panicking in the moment.
🕹️ Gadget of the Week: Logitech Lift Vertical Mouse
Tired of your wrist feeling like it’s been through a six-hour boss fight with a spreadsheet? Enter the Logitech Lift — the ergonomic mouse that looks like it was designed by a friendly robot chiropractor. This vertical wonder puts your hand in a natural handshake position, so instead of crushing your carpal tunnel dreams, it cradles them gently like a digital-age therapist. It’s like a spa day for your wrist — minus the cucumber water.
We tested it and can confirm: your hand won’t just thank you, it might write you a formal letter of appreciation. Combine it with a wrist rest shaped like a corgi butt (yes, that exists), and you’ve got yourself a workstation that screams “I take ergonomics seriously, but not myself.” Your wrist gets relief, and your coworkers get envy. Win-win.
